Android Application 'Recovery Flasher' Exploit Root Bug in Linux.

Security Advisory:

The application uses a dangerous bug in Linux kernel. Although the exploit itself can be used to execute anything as root, the prepackaged APK is designed to flash an Android recovery image with an update that allows installing modified updates signed with a publicly available key. The exploit should work for limited time only. We expected this bug to be patched very soon.

Welcome to DroidSecurity...We're Live!

Android community,

Today, we are very excited and pleased to launch our DroidSecurity Internet Security Suite ($4.99, available at www.droidsecurity.com)

When we founded DroidSecurity last year, we wanted to make sure all our fellow Android users were protected, and had the right features to maintain control over the security and privacy of your device.

Earlier this year, we reached out to all of you with our beta program to better understand your needs. We’ve been totally overwhelmed by the response. To date, over 100,000 of you have downloaded Droidhunter (the beta name)! That’s astounding, representing a very real percentage of the Android smartphones on the market.

We’re also very happy to be the first Android antivirus app to use Java Virtual Machine.

Here’s a quick rundown of key features:

- VirusFree & VirusFree Pro: Inspects and cleans Android smartphones and netbooks from malware, viruses, SMS spam and suspect applications to secure device integrity.

- FindR: Tracks and locates lost/stolen phones; enables remote memory clearing to protect data privacy.

- CheckMate: Manages security rating of Android and issues warnings on suspect security profiles.

We look forward to hearing your feedback, so we can continue to improve DroidSecurity Internet Security Suite and protect the next generation of Internet devices. Android is a booming platform, and we’re very thankful to all of you early adopters ready to grow with us.

If you want to stay updated on DroidSecurity, you can find us on Twitter and Facebook. And if you'd like to check out a social media news release with images and the full press release, please click here.

Safe travels!
